There was a great buzz in the club as last weekend brought about the first weekend of matches after weeks of training indoors. With the sun shining and the weather in the high teens the children were extremely excited with the prospect of getting out onto the field and finally show casing their skills that they have been practicing hard at over the last number of weeks.
Under 8’s
First up on Saturday morning was our under 8 hurlers who competed in a blitz in Mallow GAA complex. On the day we played Ballyhooly, Granard Gaels and Charleville. Thanks to these teams for very sporting games. We had great numbers and all our players put in some great displays with all children getting game time. Well done to the players who have made the step up to under 8 for the coming year. Panel of players on the day: Caoimhe Looney, Will Ladd Finn, Niall Murray, Rory Murray, Dawn Ladd Finn, Jamie Burke, Sean Barry and Luke Twomey.
Under 10’s
Later in the day our under 10 hurlers were in action on home soil against a very good and well drilled Clyda Rovers team. With the sun shinning and the pitch in great condition both sets of players contributed to a very keenly contested and a nail biting match. In goals Peter kept us in the game by pulling of some tremendous saves when we needed them, in front of Peter, Daniel, Rory, Morgan and Aine held strong when put under pressure by the Clyda forward line. In midfield Jack and Micheal worked tirelessly up and down the field all day, helping our defenders and providing assists to our forwards. Up front Cian, Lorcan, Luke, Gavin and Nathan put on some classy displays taking some excellent scores when the opportunities arose. Panel of players: Peter O Keeffe,Daniel McGuickin, Rory Dempsey, Aine Burke, Michael Casey, Cian Looney, Lorcan Murry, Gavin Barrett, Nathan Murry, Morgan McGrellis, Jack and Luke Twomey.
