Later in the day our under 10 footballers were in action on home soil against a very good and well drilled Bride Rovers team. Bride Rovers playing with the wind started the better team getting on the score sheet first. It took our boy’s and girl’s a few minutes to get into the game. When our players get into the game they took control of the game, keeping Bride Rovers at bay while also scoring some fine goals and points of their own. In fairness to Bride Rovers they rallied again just before the short whistle to steam the scoring spear of Shanballymore. On the change over and with the wind at our back we made a couple of positional changes that helped us to we hit the ground running. In this period our forwards and midfield pair got some fine goals and points. In goals in the first half Peter pulled of some tremendous saves when we needed them, in front of Peter, Daniel, Aine and Dean but in fine performances with some great blocks and clearances. In midfield Jack and Micheal played some brilliant football, making long runs and providing scores for our forwards while also getting on the score sheet themselves. Up front Cian, Lorcan, Luke, Gavin and Morgan put on some classy displays taking some excellent scores when the opportunities arose. Cian was in particulate fine form getting a bag of goals.
For the second half Jack Twomey went into goals, Jack’s kickouts had a big bearing on the game as he found his man with every kick-out. Peter, and Rory now formed a formidable backline with Aine Burke keeping the Bride Rovers forward line at bay for most of this half. Michael and Dean ran them selves into the ground for the second half. Up front Cian contunied his fine form fronm the first half buy getting a hatrick of goals. Cian got some great help from Locran, Gavin, Morgan and Luke all playing their part on the score board.
Panel of players: Peter O Keeffe,Daniel McGuickin, Rory Dempsey, Aine Burke, Michael Casey Hanley, Dean Fitzharris, Cian Looney, Lorcan Murry, Gavin Barrett, Morgan McGrellis, Jack and Luke Twomey. Special thanks to Billy Butler for reffing the game.
