NEWTOWN PROVE TOO STRONG IN HURLING LEAGUE

We traveled to Newtownshandrum last Saturday night to play the opening round of this years division one hurling league and came away empty handed after a nine point defeat.

We battled hard in the first half and had points from Colman O’Reilly, Mick O’Donovan, Brian O’Reilly and a Jamie Sheedy free but Newtown had 1-5 in this half to lead by 4pts at half time.

The second half was a  close battle but Newtown where to prove the fitter team and where sharper in front of goal and picked off some good points to run out winners in the end 1-12 to 0-6.

Next up is a meeting with last years division 2 finalists Fermoy and we will need to up our performance to come away with a result.
