SHANBALLYMORE JUVENILE GAA REPORT

U14S TO KICK START SEASON.

This Saturday our u14 football team travel to Killavullen to kick start the playing season when they play the locals with a 2pm kick off. This squad will hopefully continue their good form they showed at the end of last year when they captured the u13 D football league title defeating Boherbue in the semifinal and Castletownroche in a dramatic final. We will be looking to players like Muris, Aidan, Josh, Jordan and Jake O’Regan to put in a good performance against Killavullen.

TRAINING.

U14 football training continues every Tuesday night under light in the gaa training ground and next Tuesday night the u12s will also be football training from 7-8pm. Parents will receive a text with details from club trainers.
MEMBERSHIP.

Membership for 2015 must be paid before any child train’s or plays to be covered by insurance, this is according to national gaa rules. This years it’s €20 per child or adult and €50 per family.
SCHOOLS INDOOR HURLING.

A big congratulations must go to the Shanballymore National Schools girls indoor hurling team who last Friday came runners up in the competition held in Nagle Rice Doneraile. The girls played three tough game against Dromina, Ballyhooly and Geal scoil de hide Fermoy winning two and narrowly lost one to out right winners Dromina, they put in a great effort and well done to all involved. Next Wednesday the 11th it’s the turn of the boys when they take to the nagle rice indoor court and hopefully all the practice over the last few weeks will pay off.
SCÓR NA PÁISTÍ 2015.

Last Sunday Shanballymore national school were in Ballyhooly for the finals of the north cork section 2015 scór na páistí and done the whole village proud when they came home with a host of trophies in solo singing, ballad group and figure dancing. In the solo singing we were represented by Anne Marie Sheehan and she came in second after a great performance. The figure dancing saw Jake Buckley, Brid Burke, Billy Butler, Shauna Dalton, Anne Marie Sheehan, Michaela Gould, Padraig Burke and Kevin Barry also come second out of five teams and they can be proud of getting this far in the competition, in the ballad group we had an outstanding performance from Jennifer Dempsey, Padraig Burke, Niamh McGuickin, Anne Marie Sheehan and Kevin Barry and they were delighted when they came first place to qualify for the county semifinals which will be held in Ovens Ballincollig this Saturday night from 7pm, the best of luck to all the boys and girls taking part and also to there teacher Fiona Hannon who has done tremendous work with the kids preparing for these events.
