NARROW DEFEAT IN FOOTBALL LEAGUE

Ballyhooly 0-6 Shanballymore 0-5

Last Friday night in Ballyhooly we took on the locals in Round 3 of the Football League and came away with a narrow defeat after a close game.

We were short five of our starting team from our win over Liscaroll the week before but those who took the field last Friday night played their hearts out and were unlucky to lose after a great effort.

Ballyhooly started the game the better of the two teams and were two points up after ten minutes.

We slowly got to grips with the pace of the game and started to get on top around midfield and in our half forward line.

The boys scored two points of their own in the 15th and 20th minutes to draw level with the home team, however they stretched their lead with a pointed free on the stroke of half time to lead 0-3 to 0-2 at the break.

The second half was again close with both teams scoring three points, but we had some good chances and should have claimed the points.

We were guilty of missing easy scores after we got through their defence. In the end they held out for a one point win and claimed the two league points offer.

This was our last game of football for a few weeks as our game next Sunday against Fermoy has been put back at their request.

We will be back in action in April when Ballyclough are the visitors to Shanballymore for Round Four.
