U21S START CHAMPIONSHIP WITH A CONVINCING WIN

MILL ROVERS 4-13 DONERAILE 0-6.

Last Saturday at a well prepared Killavullen venue Mill Rovers started the defence of the title they won last year with a fantastic win over Doneraile.

We started the game at a good pace and had a good lead built up by the 15th minute with points from Dylan (0-2) and Shay Mullane (0-1) before Doneraile had two points from play to close the gap, we added 1-6 to our tally before half time with (1-4) coming from Dylan O’Callaghan and (0-1) each from Eoin O’Regan and Brian O’Reilly with Doneraile adding two more points to leave us comfortable at the short whistle leading 1-9 to 0-4.

The second half was all one way with our forwards enjoying lots of space and plenty of supply from our outstanding backline of Tomas Barrett, Rob McHugh, Darren Roche, Eoin O’Regan and Adrian O’Donovan with Niall Barry in goals very assured all day with any ball that he had to deal with and his kick outs were of a very high standard. We scored three outstanding goals in the second half with Dylan adding the first before Niall Hazelwood and Dermot O’Leary scored two beauties to put the game we’ll beyond Doneraile and start this round robin championship with a win for Mill Rovers.

Next Saturday we travel to Churchtown to play our second game when we take on Bally Rovers (Ballyclough/Ballyhea).

Team: Niall Barry, Tomas Barrett, Robert McHugh, Eoin O’Regan(0-1), Darren Roche, Brian O’Reilly(0-1), Shay Mullane(0-1), Brian O’Regan, Niall Hazelwood(1-0), Dermot O’Leary (1-0), Dylan O’Callaghan (2-10,) James Ladd.
