Shanballymore 1-13 Buttevant 1-9.

We welcomed Buttevant to Shanballymore last Sunday morning for our 4th game in this years division 1 hurling league and knew that a win would put us back on track after our disappointing loss to Doneraile last Sunday week.

Buttevant started the sharper of the two teams and by the 15th minute held a three point lead 1-3 to 0-3, we were guilty of some bad wides in the first half but thankfully we did find a way through with a well worked goal when Alan Sheedy set up Dylan who slipped a lovely pass to the unmarked Colman O’Reilly and he blasted to the net from close range, this put us back in the game and we added points from Jamie Sheedy (0-1 play 0-1 free) and a beuatifull side line cut from Brian Sheedy before buttevant had two points from frees, Colman finished off the scoring for the first half with a point from play to leave it 1-7 to 1-5 in favour of us.

Our backline really upped their game in the second half and most of the credit for this win must go to them as they held a lively Buttevant attack to just four points in this half with two of these coming from frees, our points in the second half came from Jamie (0-2), Colman (0-2), Hallie (0-1) and Brian O’Reilly (0-1) and thankfully we held out for an important win and gained two more league points and got back to winning ways.

Next game up is another tough encounter against Ballygiblin and this game takes place next Tuesday night in Shanballymore at 7pm.
