AGM DRAWS LARGE CROWD

Last Saturday night we held our annual general meeting for 2014 in front of very large gathering of players and members. Chairman Richard Burke opened proceedings by welcoming everybody in attendance and then he gave a very detailed report on club issues for 2014, Richard thanked his fellow officers, players, members and supporters for the effort they put in both on and off the field over the last twelve month’s, he congratulated the u21s on winning the football and hurling championships and said this shows that the future of hurling and football in Shanballymore is safe for the future. Richard congratulated Shanballymore juvenile club and the national school on their success this year and asked that we keep supporting our juveniles as they will be the life blood of our club for years to come. He also thanked everybody who helped with the fundraising side of the club this year and said that it is very important that we keep supporting our golf classic, weekly score cards and county draw. Richard thanked our main sponsor Sherry Fitzgerald O’Donovan for their continued support of our club and hopes it will continue for years to come. He gave a detailed account of development work to be carried out on our facilities in the near future and asked that members and supporters will help out in any way to improve the playing field and surrounding area. Richard finished up by reminding everybody that December the 15th will be a historical day for our club and village when president of the GAA Liam O’Neill will visit our village. On the night there will be many different events held to make this a successful event and Richard extended an invite to members, players, supporters and the wider community for what promises to be a fantastic night. Next up was Secretary Noreen Burke with the Secretary’s report and Noreen gave a very detailed review of activities on and off the field. She thanked all those who helped out with club activities during the year and hoped that 2015 will bring success and silverware to our club. Treasurer Mary O’Regan went through the club finances with great detail and this showed that there is a great deal of hard work goes in to running a GAA club.
