Shanballymore 0-13 Kildorrey 1-1.

Last Sunday week we played round six of the football league at home to Kildorrey and after a very close first half which saw the sides level at 1-0 to 0-3 we totally took over in a very impressive second half display.

Kildorrey started very brightly and put neat passages of play together but our back line and goal keeper Stephen Donegan were outstanding when under pressure from the Kildorrey attack. In midfield Sean Lynch and Eoin McHugh were in control and both these lads were driving forward at every opportunity. Our points in the first half came from Eoin O’Regan, Alan Sheedy and Vincent Burke.

The second half was very one sided with our forwards finding their range and scoring some beautiful points. Kenneth Barry, Eoin McHugh, Eoin O’Regan and Jerome Fitzgerald had points on board in the first ten minutes before Kildorrey had their only score of the second half when they pointed from play. We tacked on four more quick fire points with two outstanding points from Alan Sheedy and one each from Sean Lynch and Kenneth Barry.

Our back line were very dominate in this half with Rob McHugh, Brendan Hayes, Brian Sheedy and Richard Burke all playing some excellent football. In the last ten minutes we were able to empty the bench and it was great to see Padraig Fitzgerald back after a serious hand injury which happened when hurling against Newtown back in April and Padraig slotted back in with ease into the corner back position.

We had the last score when Eoin O’Regan pointed a free after veteran Paul Burke was fouled going through and shortly after this the full time whistle was blown and we now go on to contest the semifinal in the coming weeks.
