Last Saturday our national school were in Ovens Ballincollig for the county final of the Scór Na Bpaístí and they were represented by the Bailéad Ghrúpa who had made it to the county final with some excellent displays of music and song. The hall at the Eire Og GAA complex was packed to capacity all day and our lads put on a top class performance when they got their chance on stage.
When the results were read out they were called out in second place just losing out to the winners from Cullen. This was an outstanding achievement by this ballad group of kids and they deserve so much credit for all the hard work they put in. Well done to Niamh McGuckian, Jennifer Dempsey, Sarah Caldwell, Appolilly Szwar, Kevin Barry and also their teacher Mrs Fiona Hannon who led them to the county final.
