JUVENILE CLUB

Over the last few months our juvenile club have been busy organising the year ahead and over the cold winter nights they held talks with our near neighbours Glanworth on the possibility of joining forces at underage level. Thankfully all talks went very well and both sides agreed to join from u12 up to u18 under the name of St Dominics and in doing so will hopefully build a successful club for years to come.

This merger will no doubt help both adult clubs in years to come as it will give all juvenile players a chance to play at a competitive level. The club’s will stay as Glanworth and Shanballymore for the younger age groups of u6, u8 and u10 but these groups of players will take part in organised street league’s throughout the year and these will be all fun based.

It would be great to see as many adult players from both clubs get involved in some way with the younger lads as it will be a great benefit to the juvenile players to learn the skills of hurling and football from the adult players. Over the last two weeks there have been a number of games in all age groups with our u16 footballers defeated by Dromtarriffe last Thursday in Glanworth.

Last Sunday our u14 footballers had a brillant win over Dromtarriffe away when they came out on the right side of a high scoring match by a point. Then it was the turn of the minor footballers who had an excellent 3 point win over Banteer away also held last Sunday. Training for all age groups will continue weekly and all parents will be notified by text.
