COUNTY HURLING LEAGUE

Shanballymore 1-15 Ballinhassig 0-12.

Last Thursday night we played our third game in the space of five days when we travelled to Doneraile to play Ballinhassig in round two of the county league. We had a big win against Ballygarvan in round one and were hoping to continue our winning ways.

On the night it was obvious that the three games in a short space of time was taking its toll on us as there looked to be a lot of tired bodies at times but credit to this bunch of players they dug deep when they had to and after holding a two point lead at half time 0-9 to 0-7 the kicked on a bit in the last fifteen minutes of the game and out scored Ballinhassig to run out six point winners in the end.

We were short a few for this game with Richard Burke, Hallie Burke, Paul Burke, Padraig Fitzgerald and Eoin McHugh all out for various reasons but with competition for places very high those who came in gave the selectors plenty of options for the up coming games.

Team: Declan Fitzgibbon, James Hayes, Jonathan Dennehy, Brendan Hayes, Eoin O’Regan, Sean Lynch, Robert McHugh, Darren Roche(0-1), Kenneth Barry,  Brian Sheedy(0-3),  Jamie Sheedy(0-2), Brian O’Reilly(0-1), Alan Sheedy, Colman O’Reilly(0-4), Mick O’Donovan. Subs: Eamon Fitzgerald(0-2) for Kenneth Barry, Dylan O’Callaghan(1-3) for Alan Sheedy, Vincent Burke for Mick O’Donovan, Brian O’Regan.
