County JBFC Shanballymore 0-16 Glenlara 3-5
We held on for a hugely satisfying win over Glenlara in a cracking Co.JBFC tussle at Ballyclogh.
Credit both sides on serving up an absorbing and highly combative tussle where the outcome went right down to the wire. Not even the concession of three goals in quick succession could dampen the resilience of the victors.
Indeed, our players pulled themselves off the canvas to regain control of the proceedings only to weather a major Glenlara late charge that came ever so close to ulling the game out of the fire.
We had set the ball rolling and availed of the accuracy of Kenneth Barry, Brian O Reilly and Sean Lynch to jump 0-6 to 0-1 ahead. Glenlara livened up matters and a real purple patch yielded a pair of goals. Our shell shocked players reacted to a crisis and points from the Sheedy brothers and Eoin O Regan cut the arrears 3-2 to 0-10 at the break.
The sides traded points upon the restart before Shanballymore began to dominate through the encouraging play of James Hayes, Lynch, Eoin and Robbie McHugh. Putting together a series of attacks yielded neatly struck points from Eoin and the effective Alan Sheedy. Late on Glenlara battled with trademark grit.
