You are invited to attend The Shanballymore Development Trust information and fundraising launch in the Community Centre on 29th May 2015 at 8pm.

We are delighted that Sean McGrath, Former Cork hurler and current Selector for the Cork hurlers will attend.

A full programme of events is planned starting at 8pm and finishing at 10.30pm.

Background

Currently in the community of Shanballymore there are three Key Groups with Infrastructure and Assets:

  • Shanballymore National School
  • Shanballymore Community Centre
  • Shanballymore GAA Club

These Groups have Facilities and Assets that need to be maintained, not only to comply with Health and Safety regulations, but to allow us as a community to continue to enjoy the use of these facilities; for the benefit of the entire community that we live in.

Last December, the President of the GAA, Liam O’Neill visited our community and was very impressed by what he saw.  The Irish Independent of the 21st February 2015 stated “A visit to the club in Shanballymore informed Liam O’Neill of how strong we are on the ground” – a tremendous compliment from a high profile person who had visited more than 500 communities throughout Ireland and abroad.

Following Liam O’Neill’s visit, there was a coming together of individuals from the above mentioned organisations, to share ideas and opportunities and to explore options for maintaining and developing sporting and other facilities in Shanballymore. This resulted in the setting up of the Shanballymore Development Trust.

 What are our goals?

Shanballymore Development Trust is looking exclusively at how best we can work together to maintain and develop these assets for the betterment of our community here in Shanballymore. To do this effectively, we need your ideas and support to help us to generate funds which will make these organizations eligible to apply for State Grants which would enable the development of our community for the benefit of all of us who live here.

Shanballymore people working together to keep out little village alive – Please get involved and come out in force!
